Our training and code of ethics is designed to make sure that you can trust our members to deliver quality from your very first meeting and throughout your event, in exactly the style and way that you want, and with confidence. As sturdy and reliable as the English Oak.
This site aims
to give you information about The English Toastmasters Association and our members. We have also listed most of the other main organisations that represent the interests of toastmasters. We are here to help and advise you, whatever your event or occasion. The professional toastmasters in our association are here to make sure you get a smoothly run, well managed function, whether it is a wedding of any type or culture, civic or civil function, charity ball, garden party, retirement party, corporate event, product launch or virtually any other type of event where professional help and or management is essential. A toastmaster is a guardian of etiquette, which is
a code that governs the expectations of social behavior.
Our Association is based on tradition, as traditional as the English Rose.

Improvements for clients' services offered by toastmasters.
One of our main aims at the English Toastmasters Association® is to improve the professionalism and standing of toastmasters from all Associations, Federations, Guilds and other groups by raising the standards of care and of services that toastmasters offer their clients. We are pleased to offer high quality training to anyone interested in becoming a professional toastmaster, as well as for experienced toastmasters who wish to polish and hone their skills. If you wish to raise your standards by further training and sharpen your focus on your clients' needs, we are the Association to help you. Quality and reliablity that you can trust.

Client focused services. We believe that The English Toastmasters Association® is the most client focused of all the toastmasters' organisations. We are a totally professional organisation whose members believe that our clients' needs are paramount. There are many ways that we are different from other organisations that represent toastmasters and aside from focusing on our client's needs, one important concept to aid our professional approach to our clients is that we believe that alchohol and professionalism do not mix during our clients' functions. This is only one of our code of ethics and our complete code may be found by using this link. http://www.englishtoastmasters.co.uk/ethics.php

We are here to serve you the way that you want us to.
The English Toastmasters Association recommends that our members work in the style that their clients prefer and do not dictate to their clients what they should have or do. Our Toastmasters will listen to what you want, notate and check with you that they understand what you want and deliver excellence. We are here to serve you and it is our pleasure to do so.
If you are having a formal function - our members will be pleased to assist. If you are having a fun and friendly event - our members are here to help and stimulate you and your guests. At this type of function it is usual to consider a very important element to complete our attire, that is, a toastmaster with a beaming smile. The members of the English Toastmasters Association believe that every one of their clients are special to them and so are all of our clients' functions and their guests.

We hope that you will find the following information useful and have provided it because we have a top selection of professional toastmasters who are passionate about their services and the way they will look after you. We believe that our uniforms are not complete unless we are wearing a smile. Smiling is infectious, but we will also be serious when you need us to be. We would welcome any challenges for the best client testimonials and will strive to make sure that all of our clients receive excellent, professional service from each of our members.
We are here to serve you!
There are many organisations that are made up of, by or for toastmasters and we would like to list some of them so that you may be aware of their existance.
To establish who would be the best toastmaster for your function, you would be best advised to meet your prospective toastmaster to check out his credentials and very importantly, to see if you like and get on with with this person. Testimonials from satisfied clients may be an indication of their abilities, but testimonials from raving fans are a much better indication that your chosen toastmaster will be able to offer the best service. There are no qualifications for toastmasters from any recognised educational body as of this date (15th September 2008). There are only certifications issued by some of the organisations that represent toastmasters and these are an indication that the toastmaster has attended a course, which may have been run by a known body. The certification is generally issued by an organisation representing toastmasters and the standards of training vary between organisations. The criteria for joining one of the bodies representing toastmasters also varies very widely.
Other toastmaster organisations
The following information is taken from and about other organisations that represent toastmasters. Many of the comments are taken directly from their web sites and are not our comments. We are trying to give you an indication of the other bodies that are representing toastmasters and how they see themselves and other details that we hope may be useful for you.

Announcing a powerful course for those people who wish to learn to be a toastmaster with the skills
required to be a properly trained and client focussed professional toastmaster.
You now have access to the best kept secrets of how you can get sensational results when working for your clients, by attending our toastmaster school, using ethical methods that other organisations for toastmasters do not use or even understand.
To uphold higher standards of training and focus on individuals' existing strengths, our courses for new toastmasters are held on a one-to-one basis only.
If you are looking to become a Toastmaster, specialising in a particular type of event, for example weddings, we will be pleased to train you in the area of specialism or expertise that you require as well as general training.
Call Richard Palmer now on 07971 409977 or go to;- http://www.englishtoastmasters.co.uk/contact.php and let us know how we can help you to be one of the new breed of client focused toastmasters.
Six of the pictures below show members of The English Toastmasters Association at our St Georges day meeting at County Hotel, Chelmsford. Various presentations were made to help our member toastmasters enjoy their profession and provide information to help us all grow our professionalism together.
The photographer was David Islip, who also gave an excellent presentation about working with photographers so that we would have a better understanding of their needs. We are then able to help them also achieve better results for their clients by working more closely with them. David's details may be found at
http://www.david-islip-photography.co.uk/
We are pleased to thank David for his help and support.
Amazing results from a higher level of training in client focused services, we will be pleased to discuss your requirements in more detail. We are also pleased to offer training for hotels and other venues or businesses that have staff that may deal with clients and need further training for their staff.

Treat your staff and your business to specialised training for front of house staff including client care and announcements, please give us a call. Most venue owners and managers comment that they have never seen a welcome announcement for brides and bridegrooms the way that our toastmasters do it. Most guests say they did not know that a wedding could be so much fun. We would be pleased to offer training for groups or on a one-to-one basis for front of house staff, to give your venue the winning edge for client care and service.
Amazing results from one to one training. Due to the client satisfaction and the comments that we get when we train on a one to one basis, toastmaster training will only be offered on this basis to new members in future. Toastmaster courses on a one to one basis have been found to be the best method of upholding quality training, based on the abilities and requirements of each individual candidate.

Although we offer one-to-one training, candidates will go out and meet other toastmasters and visit venues as part of our courses.
One to one tuition is always available to suit your individual requirements, based on your existing skills and experience. We specialise in client focused services for our members, but are able to offer these courses and training sessions to non members of our organisation who wish to provide higher levels of service for their clients. We are pleased to do this because, by raising the standards in our profession, we all should create more demand for toastmaster services.

Applicants may be accepted for training and or membership of the English Toastmasters Association, from existing toastmasters who are members of other organisations representing toastmasters or their interests, subject to interview and agreement to our code of ethics. We welcome toastmasters who wish to learn our different approach to higher level, quality services, for our clients.
We are here to serve you

Why book a toastmaster for your wedding - and do you know what level of service to expect?
A contemporary toastmaster is a master of ceremonies and the presence of a master of ceremonies or guardian of etiquette is a long standing tradition at most Royal and formal social events, such as weddings.
Your toastmaster from the English Toastmasters Association will take responsibility for keeping your reception to time and liaise with your families on the wedding day. Your toastmaster may or may not become involved in wedding and event plans and as far as possible, will ensure the smooth running of your special occasion. A toastmaster’s presence will be a valuable asset.
Toastmasters traditionally wear a very grand and glorious ceremonial tailcoat with all the trimmings, and their presence can greatly add to the colour, splendour and ceremony of your wedding. Certainly very formal or large weddings will always benefit from this colourful professional management. Your guests should be made to feel special and valued, regardless of the size of your wedding or function. They are important to you and you are demonstrating that to them by using the services of a toastmaster from the English Toastmasters Association.Using the services of a properly trained toastmaster, who is approachable, professional and kind, will enhance your special day and leave you free to enjoy your celebrations. To know that all your arrangements are in excellent, experienced and capable hands and that you will be made to feel pampered and special, will allow you to relax on what is probably the most important day of your lives. Remember that you are making a choice and you should be comfortable with your toastmaster and feel confident with your decision.
The best advice for finding a toastmaster is to always look at a toastmaster’s testimonials from previous brides that they have worked for. As there are no qualifications that are recognised by any official educational bodies, your toastmaster should belong to a respected organisation that will have trained them and have an ongoing procedure for making sure that they are working to very high standard. Most organisations that represent toastmasters do not continue to check on the performance of their members.
Here at the English Toastmasters Association we believe that we all work together to help each other improve our performance and client care, in quite a unique way. Check to make sure that your toastmaster is prepared to be flexible and offer the sort of services that you want and to deliver those services in the style and manner that suits you.
Your toastmaster should be able to prove that they have appropriate Public Liability Insurance for no less that £2,000,000.00, which may also help to prove that they are taking a professional approach to taking care of you. Your toastmaster should also be fit enough to look after you properly, regardless of the size of the venue and the hours that you need to be covered.
All our toastmasters who's pictures are shown in the left hand column on this page, are covered by £2,000,000.00 Public Liability Insurance.
An experienced toastmaster may be thought of as your P.A. for your day, the person that you have at your disposal to make sure that everything goes the way that you want it to. Your toastmaster will keep control of what is happening in a discreet manor and using their experience, will ensure a smoothly run, enjoyable and memorable event. Adaptability is an important quality.
Whether your reception is being held in the smallest hall or the largest banqueting suite, booking the services of an excellent toastmaster will make all the difference to you. Your toastmaster will ensure that your special day runs smoothly and enhance the enjoyment of your day for everyone attending, whether they are your guests or people that are providing services for you.Your toastmaster should be available to help with advice on any questions that you may have, either before or on your day. They are there to look after and liaise with all parties involved, including parents, best man, ushers, bridesmaids, guests, registrars, venue management, caterers, photographers, videographers and entertainers.Your toastmaster should be helpful, kind and informative throughout the process of preparing and running your event, making sure that all eventualities have been covered, giving any required advice on etiquette and protocol, and giving you comfort in the knowledge that you have every eventuality covered.
Your toastmaster’s duties may include, but this is not a comprehensive list;-Assisting at the church, synagogue, temple or any venue where you are having your service or civil ceremony.Helping to dress any members of the bridal party or guests who may need help.Putting on button holes or corsages for your wedding party or guests.Greeting the bridal party and guests on arrival.Making sure your guests are in the right place for the arrival of the bride.Helping the bride with her dress, whether to carry it or display it for photos. Taking cards and presents and putting them in a safe place.Working closely with your photographer to help get your guests where they need to be for your photographs. Making sure that you are made to feel special and well looked after on your day. Arranging your receiving line and to announce your guests as they make their way into your wedding breakfast or dinner.Announcing and escorting the bride and groom to their table. Getting your guest book signed by all of your guests. Helping your speakers to gain confidence.Introducing your speakers. Assisting with your presentations.Announcing the cutting of your cake.Looking after any of your guests that may have special needs, such as the elderly or disabled. Continually liaising with everyone to ensure the smooth running of your reception.
Although a Toastmaster’s duties will vary according to the degree of formality that you require, your toastmaster will warmly and professionally ensure the smooth running of your day in the way and style that suites you.

Please be aware that if a person puts on a red jacket and calls themself a toastmaster, they may not have been trained by a reputable organisation. All members of the English Toastmasters Association are listed on the member toastmasters page and subscribe to our rigid code of ethics, which are adopted by every member of this organisation to help protect their clients' interests. If ever you see a toastmaster drinking alchohol when they are working, they will not be a member of this Association. Some other organisations representing toastmasters arrange Public Liability Insurance for their members. Our members each have cover of two million pounds (£2,000,000.00). The pictures and names of our members are on this site at http://www.englishtoastmasters.co.uk/toastmasters.php
Other organisations also list their members, some definitely do not have any insurance cover. Please be aware of these facts, it is in your own interest to check out any toastmaster's credentials, before you hire them. It is mainly the larger organisations that include Public Liability Insurance within their fees. Any organisations that belong to the TGC (Toastmasters General Council) will usually have insurance for their members.
We have just heard of a man (2nd September 2008) dressing as a toastmaster and using our paperwork, but drinking whilst working at a masonic ladies night on the south coast. He is not a member of our Association and has abused a privilege by using our paperwork for a charity masonic evening, without removing the English Toastmasters Association's details.
We have and always will try to help charities, but do not appreciate abuse of our kindness.
We have started listing all known toastmasters in the UK with brief details of their locations, specialisms and membership of recognised bodies for your information and to give an indication of how many toastmasters are practising in the UK. Details may be enhanced and photos included by application to The English Toastmasters Association, for a small fee. http://www.englishtoastmasters.co.uk/contact.php We will aim to make this listing the most comprehensive list of toastmasters that has ever been assembled (if it is not already).
This is the start of our comprehensive list of country wide (UK) wedding fairs (fayres).
If you are looking to book a toastmaster that belongs to the English Toastmasters Association, we will be listing the fairs that our members will be attending and showing them in red text.
Please do not wait for the fair to come around though. Our toastmasters are getting booked on a regular basis and sometimes one or two years ahead.
You are advised to contact any of our members by going to the Member Toastmasters page and selecting your toastmaster from here. If you wish you may also select a toastmaster by area, by visiting the Member Toastmaster page with listings by area.
This list is being updated on a regular basis. Most toastmasters will travel, but may have additional costs if they are working out of their usual localities. Please give any of our members a call to check their availability at any time.
This is our new Wedding Fair List in date order which will be kept updated as we get more details.
Please check with the organizers before setting out to attend any of these fairs.
